Gratitude and the Joys of editing.

This weekend I was given both the honour and the daunting task of stepping up and becoming an editor on the literary project myself and a fellow group of writers are working on. Wordplague is coming along well, with two novels now released and more on the way, along with several non-fiction books to which yours truly has contributed content. It’s a very exciting project and one I’m proud to be part of.

...

Like most of the crew working to make this dream happen, I’m wearing more than one hat these days. I’m a website admin, forum wizard, writer, audio book reader and now editor of the non-fiction department. I’m managing to pull this off while still having a full time job that actually pays my bills and occasionally having a social life too. This is a rare and wonderful opportunity and I am determined to do everything I can to make it a success, and so are a great many other people.

Like every group, there’s friction, miscommunications and the occasional complete fuckuppery (I can put myself up at the top of that list; there's a reason this post has been edited), but so far we’re making a go of this. Editing is a skill I’ve never had an opportunity to practice before and I know its making me a better writer. Whether we make this work in the long run or not, I know that I’ve expanded my world a little bit, added more friends to my circles and learned some valuable lessons about life, communications and the amazing feeling of being part of something fueled on dreams and hopes.
