Am I the only one who would somehow like to receive some sorts of news, even if it's just a single line or so about each domain/realm?
For instance in turn 1 I would have been really happy to see some message like:
"The Gheallie Sidhe strikes from the shadows against the human guilds of MB and AD and destroys some of their holdings in Tuarhievel"
It was kinda surprising a few days before the turn deadline to receive a letter of IC outrage at the destruction of MBs guilds, when I had no idea it had happened. And even if I noticed it on the holdings page (if I hadn't btw) I'd just be thinking it was guilders contesting eachother.
I am aware this might be a bit extra work for the GM team, but on the other hand I think it does give us a better idea of what is happening in the game. _________________ Meaghan Llyrandor-Tuarlachiem

I also enjoy a "news" page/post, but having DM'd a game or two myself, I can tell you that it does add another day or two to an already time consuming hobby.
One idea I had was if players would be willing to submit a line or two from their turns/IC emails, etc of what they wanted to share to the forums on their own. There is already plenty of space for this on the existing forums. It would save the DMs some trouble, but might have to be moderated to ensure that the news was in fact, not total bubkas. _________________ Jack Sparrow: [to Pintel and Ragetti] Guard the boat, mind the tide... don't touch my dirt.

I have to agree with Morg. I usually try to put some IC spin on my actions so it's clear what I do in case the DMs want to use it. _________________ For Gold and Glory!

| I second that. A thread where one agrees to posts real news, and not rumours would be great. Lessening the works of the GM and making it cooler for the players is a good thing.

The first couple of games a newspaper was done but only lasted a turn or two. The problem was that players did not submit articles for such paper so with the lack of support, it was dropped.
Now, if extremely good support is given for such a project again, it *might* be revived as it is a nice touch, but it is a lot of work for the DM. _________________ Matters of great concern should be treated lightly.

Perhaps instead of a newspaper maybe something along the lines of a traveling bard retelling tales of Anuire? It would be a bit less time-consuming without having to take a journalistic approach, not having to make image edits, formatting, etc _________________ Why not a little music to cover the sounds of the belching m'lords?

First game I was in had a college of bards that did that. The information was pretty random at times, but it was good fun.
Doesn't change the fact that no matter what is chosen, it'll mean more work for someone _________________ "Truth isn't determined by majority vote"

Well, in my opinion there is very little need for any big articles and players should be writing up their own versions if they want that to come out. What I'm thinking about is more along the lines of:
Tuarhievel: The Queen increases the hold on the magic in Tuarhievel. Meanwhile the Gheallie Sidhe spreads terror amongst the human merchants.
It's short, clear and doesn't go too much into details, and after seeing that everyone know that Tuarhievel seems to have some issues with Gheallie Sidhe.
I'm not looking for something going into details how a group of mounted elves rode into the human encampment, killed the human guilders and their workers, destroyed all tools and finally tore down all buildings, before disappearing into the forest once again. If I or the guilders wanted to do this, it should be our own choice. But just that little bit of info is of immense value. _________________ Meaghan Llyrandor-Tuarlachiem

What you are asking for should be covered by players writing posts about what happened during the last turn. Some are good at following up, some are not. _________________ Matters of great concern should be treated lightly.

Also, I figured that it would cause a diplomatic incident if I raised it on an official level. Whereas just quietly talking to you about it - and not embarrasing the Queen publicly - was a much nicer way of dealing with the issue. I mean, I COULD have phrased it in the Senate:
"So, can the Queen Elf B*$^H please tell me why she is killing our merchants - or allowing them to be killed by her subjects - after her predecessor allowed us on the land?
Some times, news doesn't HAVE to be news, if we don't want it to be.
Hence... for all you elf-haters out there, I haven't given you extra fodder to speak about the problems in Tuarhievel. This is OOC knowledge... for now. _________________ We always cut out the middleman. And for large orders, don't worry - we'll make sure to ... undercut... the competition.

I'd post a few things as far as events in Osoerde, but I'm uncertain where or how to. As for a newsletter or News Forum, I'd be interested in placing Osoerde's information. If I ever get more time to go to college, I'd consider picking up doing a newspaper but I believe I wouldn't be impartial. _________________ Jaison Raenech, Duke of Osoerde, Count of Moriel, the Baronet Winterfell.

The Imperial Senate: Is for posts, decrees etc specific to the Senate
The Crystal Rose" Is for posts relating to goings on in the Imperial City, or the courts of other realms.
The Siren's Call Tavern: This is for posting about incidents in your realm that are not really "court". Accidents, discoveries, travel etc can go in here.
Grand Market: For posting intrigues, mysteries, shady deals and juicy gossip. In other words, anything that seems to be sneaky or shady you want to give hints about.
In general though, post what you want in whatever area you think it best fits. Just remember that anything posted there becomes gossip that will make its way around the empire given enough time. _________________ "The trouble ain't that there is too many fools, but that the lightning ain't distributed right." Are you insinuating that the news in real life is impartial
Personally, I think it would be hilarious if the Imperial Daily Gazette was actually in the pocket of one of the realms. The key would be to slant the news in such a way as to not make it to obvious. _________________ Justice is the constant and perpetual wish to render every one his due.

John Harbord did that one game. It was a lot of fun to watch him carefully spinning the news. Sadly it only lasted a few turns before it got to be too much work. _________________ "The trouble ain't that there is too many fools, but that the lightning ain't distributed right." Samuel Clemens
