In the days after the terribly explosion and the Chamberlain's disappearance the Imperial Cairn is nearly swarming with members of the City watch and Imperial Guardsman, all of them subdued but determined.

Few outside the guardians of the Imperial palace attempt to step foot on the Cairn, and fewer still are permitted to stay for any period of time. One morning a servant sees two senior guardsmen sealing the doors to what was once the Imperial Court, and until recently had served as the Imperial Senate for all of Anuire. Stout chains and heavy locks that have never before seen use are set into place, and massive beams of oak barricade doors that were once open to all.

Somewhere behind the locks and seals the Iron Throne sits in an empty room, symbol of an empire that some now say will never rise again.
